This morning, we received notice from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) that four water fountains and four faucets at Highland Park Elementary School had tested positive for lead. DEQ recommended that we discontinue using those water sources at this time. School administrators immediately covered the eight locations with plastic and then announced to the entire building that those fountains and faucets are out of use for now.

All other water sources in the building were also tested by DEQ and found to be safe. None of the out-of-order water sources are in the kitchen area. Safe drinking water remains available in several locations throughout the school.

So far we have only received notification by phone of the test results. We have asked DEQ to email us the full report of their test results from Highland Park as soon as possible.
