Orchestra

"My favorite part of my job is watching students build meaningful relationships with their peers and create a community out of it. Students who might not otherwise cross paths are able to bond over their shared love of art and music. I just recently had a conversation with a parent who told me that their student had always been so shy and dreaded coming to school every day, but after joining orchestra, it has completely changed them. Their child has made new friends and found a community where they belong. Their student is volunteering for leadership responsibilities in class and now looks forward to coming to school every day to be able to play cello with their friends."

Students can choose between violin, viola, cello, or bass.

For 6th grade year, each student is able to check out a school instrument at no cost to them.  This gives them a year to try it out and see if they want to continue.  After 6th grade, students are expected to rent instruments from a local shop.  It is a rent-to-own program, so after paying monthly for so many months they will own the instrument.

We do have some school instruments to check out to 7th-12th grade students on an as-needed basis.  The number of instruments available is dependent upon 6th grade enrollment numbers each year.
