Congratulations to Mr. Jesus Vasquez, who was voted by his colleagues as Pleasant Hill's Teacher of the Year for 2025-26. Mr. Vasquez is highly esteemed by staff and students. Mr. V graduated from Whitman College in 2009 with a Bachelors in Music and History. He earned his Masters of Education in Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision in 2022 at the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Vasquez has been an educator for nearly 15 years and is certified in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. He first worked for the Washington State Reading Core in 2011 as a teacher assistant, providing direct instruction to small groups for reading intervention and literacy support. Mr. V then joined Teach for America in 2017, teaching kindergarten, then 3rd grade, for Oklahoma City Public Schools. Mid-Del was honored to have Mr. Vasquez come on board where he began teaching kindergarten at Highland Park Elementary and supplying virtual instruction to 1st graders for part of the 2020-21 school year during Covid. Mr. V has taught 1st grade at Pleasant Hill Elementary since 2021. He fully engages students in multisensory learning through incredible activities like Living Number Line and Campfire stories and most recently planned an interactive field trip to the Norick Downtown Library and Scissortail Children's Park. Cardinals are proud to recognize Mr. Vasquez's outstanding teaching abilities, caring spirit, and compassionate communication skills with students.
