Independence Day is coming to Mid-Del!
Tomorrow, Friday, August 21, is the LAST DAY parents and guardians may walk their elementary students to class.
Then, on Monday, August 24, Independence Day begins! Our students will take a big step by walking to their classrooms independently, building confidence and responsibility along the way.
Don’t worry, our amazing staff will be throughout the building ready to welcome, supervise, and help students every step of the way.
We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with our students! Thank you, families, for helping us encourage confident, independent learners.

Mrs. Emanuel's class is reading.. in the dark! Students were given a flashlight for an extra element of fun during independent reading time. 🔦 We're all about making learning exciting.. and sometimes silly.. for our students! 📖

You're invited!! We would like to welcome you to our annual open house, happening September 1st. This is a come and go event, doors are open 5:00-6:30. Meet your child's teachers, see some of their work, and get connected! We'll see you there. 💚🐎

Mrs. Watson's class has been busy this week!
They're practicing center procedures, mastering fine motor skills, and having so much fun! They've started sorting colors, introducing math skills, and building with various manipulatives. We're impressed! 🧸💚

Thank you Del City Church of Christ for our special delivery this morning! Each staff member is going home with a bag of goodies to get them through the first few days of school.
We are grateful for our community partners and their commitment to our building. As well as, thank you to The Kaleo Project for providing the treats and staff at Boeing for taking the time to pack these items. We appreciate you so much!

Has your student experienced grief from a divorce, death of a loved one, have an incarcerated parent, experienced loss from deportation, foster care/adoption, or military deployment? They would be a great candidate for an elementary small group!
Calm Waters, an OKC grief counseling organization has been offering small groups in our building for multiple years! You can sign your student up by following the link below and completing their questionnaire, or request a paper copy from our counselor Mrs. Rice. If you have any questions please call our school counselor at extension *7547 or send an email to mrice@mid-del.net

Fine motor skills and word work? Count us in! ⭐️ Mrs. Haines' class broke into the play-doh this week. Great job, 1st grade!

Building future scientists? Yep, we sure are!
Mrs. Minor's 5th grade class is already doing hands-on experiments. We love interactive learning at Epperly Heights.. and by the looks on these Mustang's faces... they do too! 🧪🥼

Fun with centers in Ms. Nicky's class!!
Throughout the day, students have the opportunity to learn, explore, and play in many ways. Each activity serves a distinct purpose and we are so proud of these mini Mustangs!🧸💚

Parents, just a reminder that our school start time has CHANGED this year. All students must be in their classrooms by 8:40am.
Starting Monday (08/17), students who arrive after 8:40am will be counted tardy and need to be signed in on the kiosk. As well as, for student safety, any adults who choose to walk their children to class will need to sign in on the kiosk in the main foyer. Lines can get long, and all adults must leave the building by 8:40am. We encourage you to say goodbyes at the door/in the foyer, to avoid unnecessary stress. We can assure you that staff members are readily available in the hallways to guide your children to their classroom. Thank you for adhering to our new expectations! 💚🐎 Our #1 priority is always keeping students safe. We're ready for a great year!

Our school wide book theme is in full swing. At Epperly Heights, we believe every story starts with YOU.
Our teachers have been influencing a love of reading, books, and learning into our Mustangs.
Mrs. Watson's class read The Kissing Hand. Students practiced retelling the story and discussed how their grownups love them, even when they are at school. This gave us practice with comprehension, story retelling, and sequencing.

It's a pigeon party!
After reading the popular children's book, "The Pigeon Goes to School", Mr. Hodges' first graders made one of their own. 💙🐦

SAY CHEESE!😁 Picture Day is on the way! Be sure to dress your best on August 28th. Order forms are going home if you would like to purchase your child's photos. 📸

Mustang Community, we need your help!
We have many students in immediate need of spiral notebooks, specifically wide ruled. If you are able to support our classrooms, here's a link to our Amazon wishlist. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/309Z1G9PL7U00?ref_=wl_share
Or, you may drop off notebooks in the main office between 8:30 and 4:00pm Monday-Friday.
Thank you for helping our students begin the year prepared! 🍎📒

It's officially the 3rd day of school and our community is still showing up for us! ⏰
Thank you to Josh Schultz from the Del City Chamber of Commerce, as well as Megan and Laci from Bill Eisenhour at SunnyLane, for helping welcome our students into school this morning. In addition to warm greetings, each student that passed by them received a Back to School bracelet. We appreciate their time and commitment to our building! 🐎💚

4th grade had themselves a great 1st day as well!! Our upper grades hallway was filled with great energy, loads of excitement, and warm welcomes into this new chapter. 📖💚

Mrs. Haines' class had a fabulous day! ⭐️ This silly crew practiced procedures, got to know each other, and even made headbands to celebrate their first day as first graders! 📖

Practice makes perfect!
Mrs. Cartledge's class worked on crayon procedures with a Back to School themed coloring page! 🖍️
Clearly, these students were very excited to show of their first day work.

Good times in 3rd grade!! Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Carbajal's classes have been busy today! Students completed team building exercises, a get to know me activity, and even had a photo pop at the reading chair.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! ❤️📓

We're big fans of the Fine Arts at Epperly Heights!
Enjoy these photos of art class day on day 1! 🎨🖍️ We can't wait to see the many masterpieces our students create this year.
