The Pleasant Hill Orff Ensemble performed in the annual Orff Festival at Midwest City High School today, along with 3 other Oklahoma schools. The program was called "This Land is Your Land: 250 Years of American Folk Music." It was patriotically, poignantly, and poetically executed through instrumentation, movement and singing. These Cardinals have been practicing after school for months and we enjoyed the fruit of your labor!

Thank you to Mrs. Ford for hosting the Cardinal Chess Club! 4th and 5th-grade students had the opportunity to participate in the chess club for several weeks. Some students came wanting to learn basic moves and others wanted to practices advanced strategies. These skills are very important in the classroom setting because chess requires focus and problem solving. Chess builds their endurance that is required for state testing. Props to you all for becoming smarter and wiser!

Graphic titled “Mid-Del Game Day” explaining the clear bag policy for events. Approved items include one clear tote or one-gallon resealable plastic bag per person, and a small non-transparent clutch no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Prohibited items include backpacks, diaper bags, purses, camera bags, binocular bags, and tinted bags. Medical bags are allowed after inspection. The graphic also notes that all attendees will pass through a weapon detection system and that law enforcement will be present at large events.

Thank you to @Cox and @ThunderCares for hosting Thunder Field Day at Pleasant Hill Elementary today! You brought the lightning and #thunder with powerful, positive energy and fun games. All PreK-5th grade Cardinals thoroughly enjoyed having our own DJ and Emcee hosting the festivities while Cox and Thunder staff and volunteers, plus celebrity #Rumble, organized the 6 active wellness centers designed to connect, entertain, and promote health and well-being. The Thunder swag was a generous parting gift; we can't wait to destress with our mini basketballs, wearing the stylish OKC Thunder shirt. The Cardinal Family is grateful for your support of our community.

The 2nd Grade Black History Poster winners received hard-earned and well-deserved prizes from their teacher, Ms. Gordon, this week. Sir Tramane Neal won first place for the captivating representation and detailed information in his Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., poster. Ja'lysa Henry's 2nd place poster of Langston Hughes beautifully and artistically conveyed his creative and activist contributions. Dallas Hendricks came in a close 3rd place for his moving Harriett Tubman poster, which expressed the sacrifices and bravery in her life choices. Thank you, Sir, Ja'lysa, and Dallas, for working so diligently to bring honor and hope to our school by sharing about important Black Americans.
