Thank you to Mrs. Ford for hosting the Cardinal Chess Club! 4th and 5th-grade students had the opportunity to participate in the chess club for several weeks. Some students came wanting to learn basic moves and others wanted to practices advanced strategies. These skills are very important in the classroom setting because chess requires focus and problem solving. Chess builds their endurance that is required for state testing. Props to you all for becoming smarter and wiser!

Graphic titled “Mid-Del Game Day” explaining the clear bag policy for events. Approved items include one clear tote or one-gallon resealable plastic bag per person, and a small non-transparent clutch no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Prohibited items include backpacks, diaper bags, purses, camera bags, binocular bags, and tinted bags. Medical bags are allowed after inspection. The graphic also notes that all attendees will pass through a weapon detection system and that law enforcement will be present at large events.

Thank you to @Cox and @ThunderCares for hosting Thunder Field Day at Pleasant Hill Elementary today! You brought the lightning and #thunder with powerful, positive energy and fun games. All PreK-5th grade Cardinals thoroughly enjoyed having our own DJ and Emcee hosting the festivities while Cox and Thunder staff and volunteers, plus celebrity #Rumble, organized the 6 active wellness centers designed to connect, entertain, and promote health and well-being. The Thunder swag was a generous parting gift; we can't wait to destress with our mini basketballs, wearing the stylish OKC Thunder shirt. The Cardinal Family is grateful for your support of our community.

Thank you to the incomparable, legendary Dr. Gwendolyn Fuller Mukes for being a guest reader to the PreK and Kindergarten classes on Wednesday! She is a Cardinal grandmother, civil rights activist, and longtime educator. She passionately and engagingly read the children's book Gwen Didn't Care, which she authored and was illustrated by the talented Alex K. Wallace (a beloved Cardinal mom). The students were captivated and thrilled by Dr. Mukes' read-aloud of her personal childhood experiences and how she understood, navigated, and overcame inequality. The early childhood classes had many insightful questions to ask, which she thoughtfully answered! Dr. Mukes was presented with each kindergartener's Black History Month projects, which encompassed photos, drawings, and synopses of Black Americans who have made a history and positive change in our country.

You provided a soul-filled and enthusiastic finale to the show, trading places with students and learning instruments on the spot or picking up where you left off for the veteran musicians in the house!
