The Board of Education named Ms. Shakari Dotson as Assistant Principal for Midwest City Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year during the Special Board of Education meeting today. Shakari was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She pursued an undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Over the past seven years, Shakari has taught science, honors math, and Algebra 1. In addition to teaching, she has been actively involved in enhancing students’ schooling through programs such as Girl Scouts and robotics and coordinating a high-impact in-school tutoring program— Ignite, to make a significant impact within the school community. Shakari enjoys spending quality time with my family outside of school, exploring her love for baking and the great outdoors. She has been happily married to her husband, Gabriel, for four years, and they share a 13-month-old son, Joel. Shakari is thrilled about the opportunity to serve the staff, students, and the community at Midwest City Middle School, and she is eager to contribute to the school's continued success.
