We were thrilled to partner with the Miss Oklahoma and Miss Oklahoma’s Teen competitions this week, hosted right here at Rose State College! Thanks to Dr. Sam Mullins, CAHS grad and current Associate Veterinarian at Reno Animal Hospital, for connecting us with the Miss Oklahoma Board to help transport the 40 contestants and their chaperones from the Okana Hotel to Rose State each day. Our Mid-Del bus drivers rolled out the royal treatment and have officially earned a crown-worthy round of applause from both the ladies and their teams. 🚌 👑✨ A huge shoutout to our transportation staff, you’ve been praised all week long, and you deserve it! #mdpurpose #MissOklahoma

The Board of Education named Jacques Washington as the new Midwest City High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Jacques is a proven leader with 11 seasons of coaching experience, Coach Washington brings an impressive track record of success both on and off the field. He most recently served as the defensive coordinator for Owasso High School, where he helped lead the Rams to a 12-1 season and a 2024 state runner-up finish. In addition to his success at Owasso, Coach Washington has held coaching positions at Iowa State University, UCLA, Western Illinois University, Northeastern State University, Broken Arrow High School, and Owasso High School. Throughout his high school coaching career, he has helped teams win one state championship and finish as state runner-up twice. His leadership has also contributed to the development of six Division I defensive backs and two NFL draft picks. A 2009 graduate of Owasso High School, Washington continued his academic and athletic career at Iowa State University, where he was a three-year letter winner, earned All-Big 12 honors, and graduated with a degree in Supply Chain Management. He also played professionally in the Canadian Football League. Coach Washington and his wife Quin, along with their daughters Mila and Jovi, are excited to join the Bomber family and become part of a tradition-rich program known for excellence in athletics and academics. Jacques is taking on the role previously held by Darrell Hall, who was recently appointed as the District's new Assistant Director of Transportation. #mdpurpose #BomberMagic

The Board of Education named Mrs. Suzanna Bennett-Asfaw as the Director of Student Accounting during this morning's meeting. She has proudly served the Mid-Del Public School District since the 2012–2013 school year, beginning her career as a 4th-grade teacher and has spent a total of eight years in the classroom, including her final years as a 5th-grade teacher at Epperly Heights Elementary. During her teaching tenure, she earned her Master’s degree in Education in May 2020. Suzanna transitioned into school leadership in the 2020–2021 school year as the Assistant Principal at Tinker Elementary, followed by a year as Assistant Principal at Midwest City Elementary. In 2022, she returned to Tinker Elementary as Head Principal, where she has proudly served for the past three years. Her time at Tinker was filled with memorable experiences, working alongside exceptional teachers, staff, students, and families. She will always hold a special place in her heart for her Patriot Stars. Suzanna is honored for this opportunity to take on a new role as Director of Student Accounting. She looks forward to supporting the district in this capacity and is excited to collaborate with a dedicated and talented team. As a long-standing and proud member of the Mid-Del family, she is committed to continuing her service to the students and community with passion and purpose. Suzanna is stepping into the role once held by Carrie Newnam, who is retiring after years of dedicated service to Mid-Del Schools. #mdpurpose

The Board of Education named Mrs. Amanda Bennett as Head Principal at Del City Elementary for the 2025-2026 school year during this morning's meeting. She served as Assistant Principal this past school year for the Panthers. A proud graduate of Del City High School, Amanda has dedicated 14 years to the education field, with 9 of those years spent serving in various roles at Mid-Del Schools. Her experience includes serving as a Special Education teacher, early childhood teacher, fifth-grade teacher, school counselor, Title I Interventionist, and Assistant Principal. Amanda earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education, as well as her Master of Science in Educational Administration, from Grand Canyon University. She is deeply committed to making a positive impact in the lives of our students and staff. In addition to her incredible professional journey, Amanda is married to Cameron Bennett, the Head Football Coach at Moore High School, and together they have two wonderful children, Aliya and Creed, who are proud Mid-Del students. We are excited to see all the amazing things Amanda will continue to accomplish as she steps into her new role! #mdpurpose

Mid-Del Schools will be closed on Monday, May 26th, as we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Due to weather, Del City High School will have a virtual day on Tuesday, May 20, so families and staff can celebrate our amazing Class of 2025 at the rescheduled graduation! Join us at the Bennett Event Center on May 20th at 10 AM (doors open at 9).

Out of an abundance of caution and based on updated guidance from emergency management and the National Weather Service, we have made the proactive decision to postpone this evening’s graduation ceremony at the Bennett Event Center. The safety of our students, families, and staff is our top priority. We understand how important this day is and share in the disappointment. However, we will have our graduation ceremony at the Bennett Center on Tuesday, May 20th at 10 am. Doors will open at 9 am. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult decision. Please stay safe and weather-aware.

Reminder for Mid-Del Families: On December 11, 2024, the Board of Education approved a change to the school calendar, making Monday, May 19th, a non-instructional day for students. This adjustment was made to accommodate Mid-Del’s graduation ceremonies. We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2025!

Please know that the Bennett Event Center has plans in place to ensure the safety of all attendees in the event of threatening weather. IMPORTANT DEL CITY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION UPDATE Due to the potential for severe weather on Monday evening, Del City High School’s graduation ceremony will now begin at 5 PM instead of 6 PM. Doors to the Bennett Event Center will open at 4 PM. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution to protect the safety of our students, staff, and guests attending the Class of 2025 graduation ceremony. The National Weather Service projects that severe weather may impact the Oklahoma City metro later in the evening. By moving the ceremony to an earlier start time, we hope to ensure everyone has time to celebrate together and travel home safely. While this is a forecasted timeline, we believe it’s best to take precautionary steps for the well-being of all in attendance. Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the well-being of our Eagle family.
