Cristo to Receive Special Wish Through Make-A-Wish Oklahoma
Cristo a brave 16-year-old, Del City High School student, battling Cystic Fibrosis is about to have his most heartfelt wish come true, thanks to the generosity of Make-A-Wish Oklahoma. This incredible moment is part of the organization’s ongoing mission to bring joy, hope, and inspiration to children facing serious health challenges.
Cristo who has shown immense courage throughout his medical journey, will be granted a special wish that will bring a sense of joy and excitement to their life during a challenging time. His wish is to travel to Hawaii, where he and his family will explore the beautiful islands of Hawaii.
Today, we had the honor of celebrating Cristo by surprising him and his family with the exciting news that their trip is happening this week. While his mom was already aware of the details, today’s wish celebration made it extra special. A big thank you to Del City High School for helping coordinate the surprise at today's Oklahoma Association of Student Council's District 9 meeting. All 13 high school student councils personalized signs and added their support of Cristo, making this celebration even more magical and unforgettable. (Thank you District 9!)
“We are incredibly grateful to be part of making Cristo’s wish come true,” said Lucy Fusselman, Development Officer at Make-A-Wish Oklahoma. “Every wish we grant is a reminder of how powerful hope and happiness can be in a child’s life. We are honored to support Cristo and their family during this journey.”
The wish will begin on Friday, February 28th, 2025. It will be an unforgettable vacation for Cristo and his family, as they create lasting memories together. This wish would not be possible without the support of our generous donors, who help make these dreams come true. Their contributions bring hope and joy to children and families facing challenging times. We are deeply grateful for their continued commitment to making a difference in the lives of our wish kids.
Make-A-Wish Oklahoma continues to be committed to bringing hope and joy to children with critical illnesses, one wish at a time. To learn more about how you can support this cause or make a donation, visit Make-A-Wish® Oklahoma. www.Wish.org/Oklahoma

Good afternoon Mid-Del -
I hope you've all been able to stay safe and warm these last couple of days. Things are looking up. We aren't supposed to get any more precipitation, and tomorrow morning's wind chill should only dip down to negative five!
Yeah, that's pretty bad still. The roads are still sheets of ice. Our parking lots and sidewalks are a mess. Hopefully tomorrow, we will have a chance to start clearing some of the slick areas.
Because of all of this, we will have another Remote Learning Day tomorrow, February 20, 2025. Hopefully (fingers crossed) we will be able to be in school Friday.
Until then, stay inside if there's any way you can. Don't take any unnecessary risks. We'll get back to teaching and learning soon enough.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rick Cobb

Congratulations to our incredible female wrestlers!

Mid-Del Families,
We hope you are staying safe and warm during this period of unpredictable weather. With the uncertainty surrounding school schedules this week, we have decided to postpone Parent-Teacher Conferences to Tuesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 27 to ensure all families have the opportunity to connect with teachers in a safe and productive way.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these adjustments. We appreciate your flexibility and support as we continue working to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school.
Stay safe and take care. #mdpurpose

Mid-Del Families,
Mid-Del administration has been in continual contact with the US National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma, regarding the winter weather forecast and the travel and safety concerns expected this week. In addition, we have been following our meteorologists on local news stations who share similar concerns.
For the safety of our students and employees, Mid-Del Schools will have Remote Learning Days on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, and Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Please check your school's website for the Remote Learning schedule at www.mid-del.net.
* Mid-Del Technology Center will not have classes on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. MDTC will not have (DAYTIME) classes on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Please check our MDTC socials for information about Wednesday, February 19th, evening classes.
We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we prioritize everyone's well-being and safety. Stay warm and stay safe!

Attention Mid-Del Families! Just a reminder that Monday, February 17 is a Professional Development Day for our staff, so there will be no classes for students. School will resume on Tuesday, February 18. Enjoy the long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready to learn!

Today is "Carl Albert Football State Champions Day "in the City of Midwest City! The Carl Albert High School students and staff were honored to have Mayor Matt Dukes and Ward 6 Councilman Rick Favors join the Titans during a school assembly to present an official proclamation to Coach Dunn and the State Championship team. Congratulations! #mdpurpose

February 15th is National School Resource Officer Day.
We wanted to take a moment to recognize our incredible SROs who go above and beyond to keep our schools safe, build strong relationships with students, and serve as trusted mentors and role models. Your dedication and commitment to protecting and guiding our school communities do not go unnoticed.
Thank you for standing guard, lending a helping hand, and always being there with a friendly smile. You are a vital part of our Mid-Del family!

This afternoon, Meagan Bryant, our Director of Counseling and Mental Health, had the opportunity to meet with the Midwest City Police Department to kick off an exciting collaboration for our students’ well-being. Together, we’re planning how the new MWCPD Crisis Intervention Response Team (C.I.R.T.) can help address the mental health needs of our school community. This fall, the MWCPD was awarded a $158,074 grant from the State of Oklahoma and District Attorneys Council to create this team to help people in our community experiencing mental health crisis and one of their focus points is supporting the students in Mid-Del. Sergeant Trae Fisher and Officer Taylor Wise were recently assigned to this team, led by Lieutenant Jeremy Zuniga, and already have made huge strides in supporting the mental health needs of our community.
We are incredibly grateful for our community partners, like C.I.R.T. members, as well as MWCPD Lieutenant Carissa Southern, who step up to support our students and provide the essential resources they need. It’s through these partnerships that we can make a real impact on the mental health of our students. #mdpurpose #StrongerTogether #CommunitySupport #MentalHealthMatters

This afternoon, Dr. Cobb participated in a dynamic round table discussion hosted by Rose State College’s Center for Civic Engagement. The panel tackled possible new state legislation requiring Oklahoma school districts to implement policies banning phones in schools. Senator Adam Pugh, Chair of the Senate Education Committee, also joined the conversation. It was an insightful dialogue about balancing technology and a focused learning environment for our students. Thank you, Rose State College, for hosting this important discussion!

Due to projected inclement weather for tomorrow, making early morning transportation more dangerous, Mid-Del Schools will be closed Thursday, February 13, 2025. This will be a traditional snow day and students will not have remote learning. We will not need to make up this day later in the year.
* Mid-Del Technology Center daytime classes are canceled.
Thank you and be safe.
